Parker Palmer

Parker Palmer is well known for his work to help teachers discover who they really are and teach according to that discovery. Perhaps Parker Palmer is most know for his book The Courage to Teach, in which he discusses the need for a paradigm shift. Traditional education, says Palmer, is when the teacher is the "expert" and the students are "novices". Palmer calls for a paradigm where teacher and student are "knowers" collectively interacting with the learning objects of any particular field.
